Beautiful With or Without Hair
By: Jackie Clark
Have you recently been diagnosed with cancer? Did you lose your hair while undergoing cancer treatment? There’s really no way to tell if a person will lose their hair when they are treated for cancer. Every person reacts differently to treatment. Losing your hair can rob women of their confidence. It’s important to always feel beautiful and happy with how you look regardless of a cancer diagnosis. Learning how to feel comfortable and happy in your own skin is important for overcoming any illness, including cancer.
Having a head full of hair isn’t the only way to feel beautiful. Fashion, healthy skin, makeup, accessories and taking care of yourself will make you feel beautiful as well. While it’s not good for all of your confidence to come from your appearance, maintaining an appearance you love will certainly help to boost your self confidence.
If you’ve lost your hair, you’ll have an easier time showing off your favorite accessories. Purchase a few pairs of large, statement earrings. Your hair won’t hide them and you can bring out your best features with earrings. Find a pair that match the color of your eyes or wear hoops to accentuate your cheekbones. Necklaces that usually get lost in long hair will stand out, too. Clothing and other accessories that draw your eye will take the focus off of your head. Wear colorful scarves in the summer or winter. Choose tops and shirts with interesting adornments and designs.
Take care of your skin to literally put your best face forward. Maintaining healthy, luminous skin is one of the best ways to feel gorgeous, whether you have a head of hair or not. Cleanse every morning and evening, keep your skin moisturized and hydrate by drinking plenty of water. If you can, get monthly facials for steam and pore treatment.
If you want the look of natural hair, try on different wigs. You can either find a wig that matches your natural hair type and color or go all out and get a completely new look. If you don’t plan on wearing your wig all the time, opt for a synthetic one, which is less expensive and easy to wash. When you’re not wearing your wig, wrap a headscarf around your head for a fashionable look. As your natural hair starts to grow in, experiment with different ways to wear short, cropped hair. Have it colored a bold red or blonde and use different clips and headbands for new looks.
Regardless of the type of cancer you were diagnosed with, from mesothelioma to breast cancer, it’s possible to bounce back and regain the appearance you love.

Thanks to Jackie for sharing this with me and for allowing me to share it with all of you. Being beautiful is all about who we are as women, and knowing WHO we are: Daughters of God, with divine attributes.
